          Our relationship with the LaCroix New Testament Mission began in 1980 or 1981 after hearing a presentation by Marian Girton, who was from Maineville.  Marian was a missionary in Haiti for over 30 years, and her compassion for the people of Haiti inspired our congregation to begin our own missionary service there.

          Each year, a group of dedicated volunteers from Maineville UMC makes the journey to Haiti.  We perform construction-type tasks, including building school desks, building and repairing roofs, and renovating existing buildings.  Our church members donate money towards purchasing oil, bags of beans, and bags of rice.  We also work on teaching beekeeping skills and building beehives through our Haiti Honeybee Project.

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;

I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.

These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.

Isaiah 42:16 (NIV)
