From the Parsonage...
At this important time in our country, I decided to
recycle an article I wrote for the local newspaper back in
1993. Strangely, it seems just as appropriate now as it was
back then. The one thing that is different today is that the
push towards socialism is out in the open, instead of being
a hidden agenda!
Wake up, America! And see where we are headed! The Land of the Free is rapidly becoming the Land of the Oppressed, and it’s all in the name of Freedom. “Individual and minority rights” have now become the key words to justify almost anything certain elements desire to overturn in our country, and
this high sounding precept is slowly and insidiously hacking away at the very
core of our existence.
In the name of individual and minority rights, basic freedoms are now denied to other segments of the population. Our tax dollars are spent to uphold some of the very things many of us cannot condone nor wish to support. We
have people in power who want to spend federal funds on abortions, even though everyone does not believe in the concept of abortion. Will they spend an equal amount of those funds for the Pro Life movement?
Many of our leaders in Washington are also upholding “alternative lifestyles,” thus confusing our children to the point where they no longer know what is right or wrong. If it is continually held that there is nothing unusual in
this type of behavior, and, the laws have to protect these minorities, how can we maintain the values that we once held dear, but which now seem to be “politically incorrect,” such as, home, family, and religious beliefs?
Prayer is not allowed in the public school curriculum. However, sex education and distribution of birth control methods fall into the acceptable category, even though many parents are totally against these actions taking place in these same public schools. Again, under the blanket of individual freedom,
the rights of others are taken away.
Should we have laws to protect the freedom of criminals to pursue their individual rights to commit crimes? How about the rights of rapists, pedophiles, murderers (the list could go on and on), all of whom, hopefully, are minorities? Any laws of God or man must take away the individual right of someone to do
as they please.
We are a nation under siege, whether we recognize it or not. The power
of prayer is mighty and can defeat Satan’s plans if used. I know I’m praying,
and I hope others are, too. If you haven’t read This Present Darkness and
Piercing the Darkness by Frank E. Peretti and Agenda 21 by Glenn Beck, please try to do so before they are reclassified under the non-fiction section of the library.
Blessings,
Dona

the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?”
