March 2023

From the Cove...
What a joy to have a few warmer, sunny days recently! It's not
really Spring yet, but I can feel it coming and new beginnings along
with it! Here are just a few I wanted to share.
Here in Maineville, we began 2023 as the Maineville Lighthouse
Church after leaving the United Methodist denomination, and we are
now part of the Global Methodist Church. This transition has involved
changing the church bank accounts, public information, emails, letterhead, website, and YouTube, not to mention filling out all the "official" papers necessary for the legal process, and our thanks go out to those who have taken care of this. Of course, the entire change for our church won't be finished until a new pastor is selected to take Pastor Steve's place once he retires at the end of June, but the search is under way.
How fitting that the Holy Spirit also seems anxious to be part of a new beginning in the revival that has broken out in many of our young people. What started as a simple prayer service at Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, has not only attracted thousands of people from all over the United States, but has also spread to other college campuses over the last couple of weeks. What a wonderful outpouring of prayer, praise, and worship this has been, and I pray that it will encourage people to turn to back to church and their Bibles for a better understanding of God's Word.
Our Ladies Bible Study and Coffee Fellowship has started a new DVD Bible Study titled "The God of the How and When." It's in the first stage, so new members are invited to join us in the parsonage on Thursday mornings at 10 am for a time of sharing and study. In the past, I've created and led our studies, but it's time to hand this over to someone else at this point and the switch to DVD studies will make the transition much easier. Since no one has felt called to take over yet, it's possible that God's plan is for a rotation of studies and facilitators in the future.
Another fairly new move is that several of our men have also begun meeting in the library on Thursday mornings with a similar purpose of fellowship and study. The leadership and subject may vary, but you can always be sure of a hot cup of coffee and donuts. The time frame is 10 am to noon, and all men are welcome to stop in.
Although our choir is by no means a new concept, it has been on hold ever since the Covid outbreak. So the fact that it has now started meeting again is new for 2023! Brandon is working on many of the standards and old favorites, and this should be a great way to get more people involved. Practices vary between Wednesday evenings and Sundays after worship to make it convenient for everyone.
All in all, the month of March promises to be filled with renewed life and encouragement and is a welcome change and "new beginning" from a somewhat dreary winter season!
Blessings,
Dona

From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you. "
